Name: Kyle Cannon
Route Location: Penman Rd. (between 12Ave. North and Coral way, heading south)
Target Audience: The audience behind the concept was geared toward more the residential side of the area with focus on the locations older housing.
Redesign description: The area of Penman Road that I selected has a lot of houses that were built around the 1960 and 1970 decades. With similar architecture, the area has a lot of houses that have angular roofs giving it a vintage modern feel to the location. This area also has a very open space, which can give a pedestrian a far seeing distance down the street.
Keeping those elements in mind I also thought about the ongoing local construction along with common flaws noticed in the existing local bus stops. One thing noticed was that there was not a lot, if any, shading for cooler temperature for an older person, or someone sensitive to heat, waiting for the bus during the hotter seasons.
With this included in my concept, I wanted to focus on a simplistic design that would complement the location while re-using existing materials. By using the dirt, from the construction, and concrete, these elements would naturally act as a way to create a cooler climate. For seating old school chairs can be pressed into the concrete creating a sort of low budget up cycling. By using these materials, the concept was geared for a realistic low budget while emphasizing the benefits of re-using existing elements for this bus stop.
