Name: Pamela Rodgers
Route Location: Mayport Village
Brief Description: The second phase of this project is a logo redesign for JTA. After living in San Diego for 6 years and seeing
how polluted a beautiful place can get in such a short amount of time, my redesign is a sense of purpose for the environment. Using alternative fuels or biodiesel gas, JTA can do their part in preserving the air we breathe and the wildlife that we cherish. The leaves on the new logo represent a new direction JTA is going with more efficient routes and green fuel choices. I chose the Moderna typeface to connect the past “modernism” of Jacksonville to the “new modern” city Jacksonville is becoming.

Name: Mitchell Kelly
Route Location: Gate Parkway North
Target Audience: Surrounding demographics average between 20 and 30 years of age.
Description: The theme chosen for this project is called “space-age modern”. This redesign is not only meant to be attractive to those who use the JTA services, but also to those living and working in the surrounding area who will be seeing these stops on a regular basis as they drive past.

Name: Terry Canty

Name: Jonas Washington
Route location: West side, Roosevelt and Blanding, down from FCCJ Kent campus
Target Audience: College students
Description for redesign: I tried to change the logo but keep the arrows from the original JTA logo but use them in a different way. I also changed to colors to a cool blue color for southeastern Florida. I used a music theme for the bus wrap; for the FCCJ students, most students are into the music IPod, MP3 player thing. The Bus stop is simple wood layout with the logo popping out.

Name: Babatunde Disu
Route Location: Regency Square Mall, Jacksonville, FL
Target Audience: Jacksonville public transportation users and JTA employees.
Brief Redesign Description:
Slight variant from origianal JTA logo design
Colors used intended to represent Jacksonville, FL climate
Colors chosen to coincide with JTA worker's light blue uniforms
Negative space between converging arrows also considered

Name: Trevor Stevenson
Route Location: Caron and Old St. Augustine road to the plaza down the road from there.
Target Audience: The target audience for this particular project was younger people (between 11-25) and a slightly older crowd (between 29-45).
Brief Redesign Description: With the redesign of JTA I wanted one thing from the beginning – instant recognition from a distance. Using intense color choices (bright red and bright green) and larger signs I believed this could be achieved, since even the current bus stop signs are so unremarkable that it’s easy to look right past them.

As far as the designs themselves go, I wanted to kick it up a notch. I kept the original “JTA” from the current logo but threw everything else out the window. Sharper, more interesting shapes adorn the new buses and bring a nearly futuristic look to the old arrow-laden logo. Even the bust stop itself has the bright green spines of the logo in and around it.

Revitalizing the older and ultimately outdated aspects of the JTA organization was an interesting proposition. The design changed dramatically throughout the first week or two but once the initial plans were locked in it went smoothly and without issue. I wouldn’t change anything I’ve done and even the things that didn’t work well helped me realize what I could have focused on to improve it. After all, who is so arrogant as to believe they can’t learn from their mistakes?

In short, I‘ve learned a great deal from this assignment and I’ve become a better designer because of it.

Name: Laura Adams
Route Location: Regal Cinemas on Philips Highway, L7 Soutel.
Target Audience: Any and everyone who enjoys going to the movies.
Brief Redesign Description: The bus stop at the theater has nothing but a sign on the side of the road. Everyone enjoys movies wether they have a vehicle to get there or not. I created a movie screen theme as the covered stop and theater seating as the uncovered. Covered would be made with sheet metal for the curtains and tin walls. The uncovered stop seating would be made of molded plastic instead of the usual theater seating material to withstand the weather. The arm rests would also lift up as most theater seat's do. Both stops are designed to make you feel at the movies, or in the movies depending on which stop you use. After creating the covered bus stop i would add skylights and a window on each side to allow for a more open feel.

Name: Justin Lasher
Route Location: It’s a route between the multiple shopping centers hear the Avenues on Southside BLVD.
Target Audience: Shoppers all alike.
Brief Description: The redesign was aimed to connect with a large audience and fun to ride. The route was aimed to commute quickly between shopping centers and without flaw.

Name: Kyle Cannon
Route Location: Penman Rd. (between 12Ave. North and Coral way, heading south)
Target Audience: The audience behind the concept was geared toward more the residential side of the area with focus on the locations older housing.
Redesign description: The area of Penman Road that I selected has a lot of houses that were built around the 1960 and 1970 decades. With similar architecture, the area has a lot of houses that have angular roofs giving it a vintage modern feel to the location. This area also has a very open space, which can give a pedestrian a far seeing distance down the street.
Keeping those elements in mind I also thought about the ongoing local construction along with common flaws noticed in the existing local bus stops. One thing noticed was that there was not a lot, if any, shading for cooler temperature for an older person, or someone sensitive to heat, waiting for the bus during the hotter seasons.
With this included in my concept, I wanted to focus on a simplistic design that would complement the location while re-using existing materials. By using the dirt, from the construction, and concrete, these elements would naturally act as a way to create a cooler climate. For seating old school chairs can be pressed into the concrete creating a sort of low budget up cycling. By using these materials, the concept was geared for a realistic low budget while emphasizing the benefits of re-using existing elements for this bus stop.
